RENOVATE | Footscray

 

The Brief:

Working with leading Melbourne developer, Fitzgerald Projects, this high-end renovation sought to introduce modern fixtures, light and space into this 1960’s property, retaining a strict focus on the architectural modernist design which formed the bones and appeal of this premier property in Footscray

 

 

The Approach:

In the capacity of Project Supervisor, we worked closely with the client and their Sydney based architects (Meachan, Nockles, McQualter) to authenticate the design ambitions of the project

 

Whilst the ambition to retain the authenticity of the original design presented its challenges, our combined commitment to regular and collaborative problem solving helped to ensure that the project delivered on everyone’s needs from the outset

 

With a desire to make the most of the expansive views whilst accommodating the clean lines and authentic fixtures and fittings that were intrinsic to the design, we successfully avoided any incumbrances when removing walls and were able to retain the single flat line ceiling in keeping with the original design, as well as enhancing the split-level flow of the home with blackwood parquetry flooring. 

 

We also worked hard to retain the authenticity of the mosaic bathroom and introduced modern day living and stainless steel fittings into the high traffic kitchen area with close attention to detail on how best to install high-end, 60’s fixtures without compromising the functionality ambitions of the client

 

Feedback:

From the moment we secured the project we knew that the Simon and the team were perfect for the job.  Not only did we collectively resolve any challenges associated with working in a high-density suburb, but the job really brought the attributes of all parties to the fore and left us all celebrating the rebirth of this truly classy and authentic renovation to the delight of both client and architect alike.
